I didn’t set out to be an entrepreneur.

In fact, entrepreneurship wasn’t even on my radar. I thought I’d be working in athletic administration — maybe leading a department at a university or overseeing operations for a sports program. But like many of us, 2020 had other plans.

Back then, I was working as Director of Operations at a swim school in Los Angeles. When the lead instructor and owner decided to amicably part ways, the instructor approached me and said, “Jess, I want to start my own school — can you help me build it?” That was the moment JMC was born — December 2020.

Since then, I’ve taken it two years at a time (yep, you read that right) — making sure the work still feels right, the clients still feel aligned, and the impact still feels real.

With a BA in Journalism & Creative Writing and a Master’s in Coaching & Athletic Administration (aka a business degree with a sports twist), my career has always been rooted in leadership, operations, and organization; no matter the industry I was in. I’ve spent the last 20+ years in roles that revolve around structure, strategy, documentation, and people development. Turns out, those “behind the scenes” skills are what a lot of entrepreneurs need most.

Helping female founders simplify their businesses, build structure that supports growth, and feel more in control of how they work and lead — it’s not just what I do. It’s who I am.

Beyond the business…

I’m originally from Vermont (yes, I love fall), spent time in D.C., Los Angeles, and now live just outside Denver with my husband, Josh, and our two crazy felines. We’re happily child-free, lovers of good food and wine, and big fans of trying new experiences — especially if they involve travel, water or recreation.

I believe in building a business that works with your life — not against it. And if we get to laugh, make spreadsheets, and simplify your systems while doing it? Even better.
