At its core, strategic planning is the deliberate process of setting goals, defining objectives, and creating a plan of action to achieve sustainable growth and long-term success.
For businesses of all sizes - yes, even for solopreneurs - strategic planning is important for these reasons:
It provides clear direction and focus, making sure your time, energy and money are moving towards your desired results.
It allows you to analyze your client progression and ensure that what you offer continues to meet their needs.
It helps you become more efficient with your resources which maximizes your productivity.
It facilitates better decision-making.
I’m all about building a plan and path to move your business forward. Strategic planning is a tool that helps with that. Block out some time on your calendar (at least once a month) to assess where your business currently stands in relation to any goals you’ve created for the year or quarter. Figure out if you’re on track or off track, and what, if anything, needs to shift. Follow up and accountability are critical components for successful strategic planning so commit to regular check-in intervals.
